When it comes to bourbon Pappy Van Winkle 23 year old Family Reserve is the unicorn of unicorns. In fact, many people believe that the bourbon slang “tater” derived as a derogatory term for bourbon newbies chasing such unicorns. In the spirit (pun fully intended) of turning that negative connotation around, we at Taters jumped at the opportunity to help our friends at Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana in raffling a unicorn. Ok, not literally a unicorn, but a bottle of Pappy 23!

Pappy Van Winkle 23

“…a time machine back to an America that may or may not have ever existed: perfectly aged, beautifully packaged and nearly impossible to find.” https://www.winemag.com/2020/03/03/pappy-van-winkle-expensive/

To help our friends, Taters went on location to JA of Northern Indiana’s new corporate headquarters to give ol’ Pappy a fashion shoot by Matt Hakey, Taters Director of Marketing and Branding. We chose a subtle, yet refined theme that included a sleek, black velvet bag with the “Limited Edition” neck tag to highlight its many accolades. We next adorned Pappy with some Taters and Junior Achievement swag to celebrate the occasion.

So how might one capture this unicorn? We’re glad you asked. Support Junior Achievement. Then support them again! Junior Achievement's Purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. And in today’s uncertain times, those skills are more important than ever. JA is the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. The aforementioned Pappy will be raffled at this year’s JA Wine & Beer Festival. All proceeds go to support JA’s programs that inspire and educate our young people in Northern Indiana to own their future economic success and turn their dreams into reality.

Tickets for the raffle are $100 each and no more than 200 tickets will be sold. Tickets are available now and the winner be selected at 8pm on July 30th. (Indiana Gaming License 001504)

Supporting JA at a mere $100 a pop is obviously worthy in and of itself. Imagine doing it with a chance to win one of the most coveted tater bottles in the world! Do it for the kids. Do it for yourself! You’ll be glad you did.

UPDATE: Special Thanks to all who supported the Junior Achievement raffle. Through your generosity we were able to raise over $15,000!
